Local history displays seamlessly blend with others about area geology and geography, anchored by the always mighty Mississippi River. Beautiful views, a live snake collection, gift shop and more makes the Driftless a great stop.

Nice facility staffed with knowledgeable people. Area history, geography and wildlife education items displayed throughout building. Also has an active honey bee hive that you can view through glass from inside the building. A great place to visit for adults and kids alike that are interested in the Mississippi river valley ecology.

The website does not give this place any justice, as it doesn't explain all that it has to offer. It was a Wonderful museum about the area and the Mississippi River. This is a must stop if you have children of any age b/c there are a ton of hands on exhibits here and live animals to watch. My child particularly loved the chance to pilot a barge and to feel all the different types of animal furs. The views of the river are beautiful from the deck as well. The staff was very informative. Don't drive by.....stop and enjoy!

This is such a great place to bring your kids to check out the history of the Driftless Area. Theres some snakes turtles, and frogs for them to look at. A nice little sitting area with lots of books. My son had lots of fun playing with the giant turtle outside.

Awesome but we almost missed it it's the beautiful building. And when we are getting in our car eagle came flying right overhead awesome. Lots of touchable interactive things from looking inside of a live beehive to all kinds of furs you can touch on a topical map you can walk through. I enjoyed it as an adult and imagine a child would too. Update went back and really enjoyed it this time talked with some of the people and they convinced me to spend $25 on the (decoding the driftless )DVD So so wonderful.. it's better than national geographic. I learned so much
